Our clinic practices cutting edge medicine, such as stem cell therapy, veterinary orthopedic manipulation, and cold laser therapy.  Employees must be open to learning and practicing new therapies.

Our clinic primarily has canine and feline patients; occasionally some avian and pocket pets.

Burke Animal Clinic has a robust training program to ensure that LVTs, Assistants, and Receptionists are confident in their responsibilities. Current Openings:

Full-time and Part-time Veterinary Assistant 

We are looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about helping animals and people. Previous experience working in the animal field is preferred. This is a very physically demanding job, requiring assistants to be on their feet for full shifts and be able to lift pets up to 50 pounds. It is also very complex and fast-paced. Successful candidates will love working with animals and their owners, enjoy being part of an energetic/engaging team, can prioritize multiple tasks well all while maintaining a high level of patient care.

Additional responsibilities for this position include animal care, animal restraint, assisting doctors in exam rooms, drawing up vaccines, processing in-house blood work, and general cleaning duties. Hours may include days, evenings, weekdays, and weekends. Candidate must have reliable transportation and a flexible schedule.

Ideal candidates must work well with a team, have great communication skills, be proficient in reading, writing, math, phone, and basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets; knowledge of Avimark is a plus).

Full or Part-time Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

We are seeking a motivated and passionate full or part-time Licensed Veterinary Technician.

Successful candidate’s will:

  • Be licensed in the state of VA
  • Share our commitment to delivering the highest quality patient care with exceptional client service.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds, sit, stand, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Work well with a team and have great communication skills.
  • Experience in training vet assistants and other staff is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Avimark is a plus.
  • Must be open to learning and practicing new therapies.

We will utilize the full scope of your small animal training, including, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, digital radiology, anesthesia administration, and monitoring, surgical assistance, dentistry, laboratory testing and sample prep, animal restraint, nursing care, and reviewing patient care and surgery discharge instructions with clients.
